Terms of Use
Last updated: 1 September 2026
These Terms of Use apply to your use of choosecare.co (the “Site”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By using the Site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Site. Our Privacy Policy and our data and editorial methodology form part of these terms.
1. What ChooseCare is
ChooseCare is an independent directory and decision guide for regulator-registered care and support services across the United Kingdom. It helps you find services, understand what the regulators have published about them, shortlist options and contact providers directly.
2. What ChooseCare is not
- Not a care provider. We do not deliver care, employ carers, or supervise anyone who does.
- Not a regulator, local authority or government body, and not connected to, endorsed by or acting for the Care Quality Commission, the Care Inspectorate, Care Inspectorate Wales or the RQIA.
- Not a placement, brokerage or referral agency. We do not match you to a provider for a fee, and we take no commission, referral fee or payment from providers for enquiries.
- Not a review platform. We do not collect consumer reviews of services. Where a listing shows a Google rating or an automated summary of Google reviews, those reviews were posted on Google, not collected by ChooseCare.
- Not an assessor. Nothing on the Site is a care needs assessment, a financial assessment, or a determination of eligibility for local authority or NHS funding.
3. Nothing here is professional advice
The Site provides general information only. It is not clinical, medical, care, financial or legal advice and must not be relied on as a substitute for it. Care decisions should be made with the people they affect and, where appropriate, with a GP, a local authority adult social care team, an independent financial adviser regulated for care fees advice, or a solicitor.
4. How to read regulator information
Registration status, ratings, inspection outcomes and service details shown here are reproduced from published records of the CQC, the Care Inspectorate, Care Inspectorate Wales and the RQIA.
- They are a point-in-time copy and may lag behind the regulator's own record. A service's status can change at any time, including between inspections.
- The regulator's own published record is the authoritative source. Where this Site and the regulator disagree, the regulator is right. Always check the regulator directly before making a decision.
- The four regulators use different rating scales and different inspection frameworks. A rating in one nation is not equivalent to a similar-sounding rating in another, and comparisons across nations should be treated with caution.
- Only a regulator can determine whether a service is registered. Where the Site describes a service as registered, that reflects what the register said when we last read it, nothing more.
5. Pricing estimates
Where the Site shows an estimated price, it is modelled by us from published and comparable information. It is not a quotation, an offer, or a price supplied by the provider. Actual fees depend on assessed needs, room or package type, funding, and the provider's own terms. Only the provider can quote you a price. A provider may ask us to remove its estimate; see our pricing estimate opt-out.
6. Listings, shortlists and comparison
Inclusion in the directory is not a recommendation, endorsement, accreditation or guarantee of any service's quality, safety, suitability or availability. The order in which results appear reflects relevance and the filters you chose; it is not a ranking of quality and is not sold.
Your shortlist and enquiry tracker are personal organising tools. Statuses, dates and notes you record are yours; they are not shared with providers and they do not create any obligation on anyone.
7. Enquiries to providers
When you send an enquiry, its contents are provided to the service you selected so it can respond. We are not a party to any resulting discussion, assessment, contract, placement or payment. We do not guarantee that a provider will reply, reply within any time, have capacity, or accept your funding arrangement. Once your enquiry reaches a provider, its handling of your information is governed by that provider's own practices.
8. Accounts
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for keeping access to your account secure. Do not share sign-in links or credentials, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account. We may suspend or close an account used in breach of these terms.
9. Acceptable use
- Do not use the Site unlawfully, or to arrange anything unlawful.
- Do not enter another person's personal or health information unless you are entitled to act for them.
- Do not post anything defamatory, harassing, threatening or discriminatory.
- Do not impersonate a provider or a person, or claim a listing you have no authority over.
- Do not scrape, harvest, copy or systematically extract listings, regulator data or contact details, or use automated means to access the Site beyond ordinary browsing.
- Do not use contact details found here to send unsolicited marketing.
- Do not probe, interfere with or attempt to circumvent the Site's security or access controls.
10. Intellectual property
The Site's design, code, structure, taxonomy, editorial text and the way information is compiled and presented are ours. Regulator data is used under the terms on which it is published, and the underlying records remain the regulators'. Provider names, logos and website content belong to their owners. You may link to the Site freely; you may not reproduce substantial parts of the directory without our permission.
11. Third-party websites
The Site links to providers' own sites and to regulator records. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices. A link is not an endorsement.
12. Availability and changes to the Site
We provide the Site as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or complete, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, including any listing, at any time.
13. Our responsibility to you
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from: your choice of, dealings with, or engagement of any service found through the Site; the conduct, quality, safety, availability or regulatory compliance of any provider; reliance on regulator information, a pricing estimate or any other listing detail; or unavailability of the Site.
14. Corrections, removal and complaints
If a listing is wrong or out of date, or you are a provider who wants an entry corrected or removed, email [email protected] with the listing link. You do not need to give a reason to have a provider entry removed. The same address is the route for any complaint about the Site.
Concerns about the care itself should go to the provider and, if unresolved, to the relevant regulator or the local authority, not to us. We cannot investigate care quality and have no power to act on it.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your part of the United Kingdom, and you may bring proceedings in the courts there.
